(Photo: CNA screengrab)\n\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Sinha is among many Indians who acquired pets during the pandemic, leading to a jump in pet ownership in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Industry players said pet adoption has gone up across the board, growing at an estimated 11 per cent yearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dogs, cats and rabbits are among the top choices for pet lovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"India&#039;s pet care industry sees unprecedented boom\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eqACCkN062I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysts said this unprecedented boom in India\u2019s pet industry is just the start, and projected to more than double in size within three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pet care is expected to grow into a US$1.2 billion sector by 2025, and has driven a surge in new businesses and jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>JOBS, BUSINESSES BOOM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Professional dog trainer Preet Pal Singh said demand for skilled pet handlers like himself has increased in recent times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe way people send their kids to schools, now they\u2019re sending dogs for training,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There\u2019s lots of demand in the market. And because of this, the number of dog trainers is also going up.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Singh, who has been in the profession for decades, recently roped in his son to cope with the increase in business.
