*Your pet has to be checked by the vet to confirm they\u2019re fit to travel by air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*The airline should ensure that the pet<\/a><\/strong> is kept in a pressurised cabin with a normal ambient temperature and adequate oxygen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*If the pet will be kept in the cargo, make sure their crate has ample space to move, which is approximately twice their body length. It should also be secure so that the pet doesn\u2019t escape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*If your pet is smaller in size and allowed in the cabin, they may need to be adequately sedated which can be sourced from your vet, so that they don\u2019t cause a nuisance to other passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Make sure they have light meals before travel and have access to water if they\u2019re in cargo (some ice cubes can be put in the water tray).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Make sure your pet is fully vaccinated and you\u2019re carrying all vaccination certificates. Follow all the protocols suggested by the airline and your trusted vet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Avoid travelling with short-nosed breeds or brachycephalic, snub-nosed breeds like pugs<\/a><\/strong>, Shih Tzus, or punch-faced Persian cats. They should not be put in cargo as they\u2019re more prone to respiratory distress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Don\u2019t travel with a pet that has any underlying cardiac or respiratory issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*When you arrive at your destination, open your pet\u2019s crate as soon as possible and check to see if your pet is safe. If you suspect something is wrong, take them to the vet immediately after deplaning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
